There is only one question: are you working to elect Democrats in every single election? Are you working to destroy the current version of the Republican Party? If not, you are a fascist. If you are coddling Republicans and trying to find ‘common ground’ with the people who call immigrants ‘poison,’ if you are trying to be nice about people who want women removed entirely from public life, if you are saying nice things about the people who want to snatch health care from millions of people, you are a fascist. If you are wasting your time on vanity candidates like RFK Jr or Cornel West or anyone who isn’t Joseph Robinette Biden, you are a fascist.
One of two men will be sworn in as President next January: Donald John Trump or Joseph Robinette Biden. If you aren’t working to elect Biden, you are a supporting Trump.
I made a couple of leaps in my morning reading and landed on your criticism of Mary Harrington. It's a worthy discussion, so then I take a look at your site and find a whole anti-Taibbi series. So I read everything else to get a sense of scope.
I'm 57, white cis male from the Deep South. I've done a lot of jobs, relevant here, teaching English, lawyering, and cooking.
I've voted Dems in every election since 1988, usually as the lesser of two evils, but in 2008 I was active (one room of my house became like a shipping department).
I was a Bernie supporter in 2016 and 2020. I keep having hope that the Party will reverse its abandonment of the working class. It's been a generation since Bill Clinton, so I keep thinking it's time, but the unity of purpose it showed in lopping off the last remnant of the left seems to have solidified things.
But I still voted for Hillary and Biden as the lesser of two evils (because I know it's not as simple as I've just described).
This time however, I can't say that the Dems are a lesser evil. The State Department seems to be pushing us to WWIII or, at best, a needless new Cold War.
I have no idea how things in the world will unfold over the next years. I can't predict how either party will govern. They both seem to want an eventual showdown with China (if we make it that far).
So I plan to vote for anyone else.

I subscribed here, and I'll listen. Calling people "fascists" (such a tired, weary word) isn't going to change any minds, but mine is capable of changing.
PS: the style of one-sentence paragraphs is an unavoidable development in online writing having to do with attention span and reader habit. It developed alongside the phrase "wall of text", and nothing can be done about it. 😉
I sent an email to everyone I had in my contacts during Trump's Presidency. I asked the same question. My answer to everyone was, "what you are doing now". Lol, only Republicans took offense.
